Get Social 2019. Mini-Conference on Social Media Marketing in Dublin

Social media is growing multifold each day and a company is only as good as the social media strategy they follow. The event Get Social 2019 at Dublin City University held on 5thof March 2019 addressed just this. The discussion included a range of topics like social selling, content creation, Twitter as a marketing platform and social media for non-profits etc. In this blog, I am going to discuss some interesting topics that were discussed in the event and give you a snapshot of the event.

While Twitter is out there bringing news to users around the world, LinkedIn is playing a vital role in bringing businesses together and increasing the power of convergence. That being said, there were few important points raised by the speaker and they span across different platforms and different contexts. We hope taking a read through these pointers will help you build your next social media strategy.

Different social media platforms
  • Move – connect to them at an emotional level
  • Treat – entertain them
  • Teach – provide useful information

So, as you create content to go onto your social media channels, remember the context that the platform is setting. Twitter is not the right place for you to post a 3-minute fun video nor is Instagram the place to discuss highlights from your annual general meeting. Know your audience and speak their language.

Make your biggest announcements first on Twitter and get involved in the talk of the town. But on the other hand, use LinkedIn to build and network with business clients. That being said, we’d like to leave you with a quote by Craig Davis – “We need to stop interrupting what people are interested in and BE what people are interested in”
